Jammu, Mar 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said the peace being witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir today has come at the cost of immense sacrifices made by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Armed Police Forces.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 2nd All India Police Kabaddi Cluster 2025–26 (Men & Women) at M. A. Stadium, the Lieutenant Governor said thousands of police personnel, soldiers and CAPF bravehearts laid down their lives to protect the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The peace we enjoy today, the peace that allows families to gather, athletes to compete and communities to thrive, did not come without a price. It was secured through the sacrifices of the J&K Police, the Army and the CAPFs,” he said.
Issuing a stern warning to those attempting to disrupt peace, Sinha said such elements would not find any refuge.
“You will find no place to hide. We will hunt you down from the deepest depths,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor felicitated sportspersons from various State Police Forces and CAPFs who participated in different disciplines including Kabaddi, Gymnastics, Fencing and Kho-Kho. He said the discipline, dedication and determination displayed by the participants reflected the core values of policing.
Highlighting the role of sports in promoting unity, Sinha said sporting activities transcend barriers of language, geography, social status and rank, bringing people together through shared courage and determination.
“Sports grounds bind us in shared humanity. Such events teach the young generation values of teamwork, discipline and trust which are essential for lasting peace and public security,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also lauded the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme, saying the force has consistently worked to guide and mentor youth while strengthening its bond with the community.
Calling upon the youth of the Union Territory to realise their potential, Sinha urged them to dream big and take advantage of the opportunities available.
He also cautioned young people against the growing menace of narcotics and called for a collective fight against drug abuse.
“Sports teach the power of shared purpose — a committed team can achieve what an individual cannot. These lessons extend beyond the field and form the foundation of life’s greatest achievements,” he added.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for winning their maiden Ranji Trophy title and congratulated the team for the historic achievement.
An e-souvenir of the 2nd All India Police Kabaddi Cluster 2025–26 was also released during the ceremony.
Among those present were Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special DG (Coordination) S. J. M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF Abdul Ghani Mir, ADGP Armed Police Anand Jain, ADGP Headquarters M. K. Sinha, Joint Director Intelligence Bureau Pankaj Thakur, senior police officers, civil administration officials and eminent sports personalities.
