BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 15: In a major crackdown on unsafe food practices, police have registered two FIRs after special flying squads seized rotten meat during joint market inspections in Budgam district.
Officials said FIR No. 255/2025 has been lodged at Police Station Budgam against Wazwaan Point Restaurant, while FIR No. 143/2025 has been registered at Police Station Magam against Big Boss Restaurant, Magam for selling unhygienic Wazwaan items prepared from decayed meat.
Legal proceedings under Sections 271, 272, and 275 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 have been initiated against both establishments.
J&K Police cautioned that such violations pose a serious threat to public health and will be dealt with strictly. Authorities added that regular inspections and stringent monitoring will continue across the district to curb the sale of substandard or unhygienic food items.
