Postal Assistant Arrested While Accepting Bribe in Bandipora, ACB Registers Case

Bandipora, Jul 14: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a postal assistant posted at the Bandipora Post Office after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant, officials said.

According to an ACB spokesperson, the accused, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Najar of Rohama, Baramulla, had allegedly demanded Rs 6,500 from the complainant for conducting physical verification of his business unit under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to facilitate subsidy disbursement.

“Acting on the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap at the post office and apprehended the accused while accepting Rs 6,000 as part of the demanded bribe,” the spokesperson said.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain any wider involvement.

The ACB, in its statement, reaffirmed its commitment to take strict action against corruption in public offices and urged citizens to report such instances through the designated helpline or online complaint system.
