Property Worth Over ₹2 Crore of Notorious Drug Peddler Attached in Udhampur Action taken under NDPS Act as part of police crackdown on narcotics trade

JAMMU, Oct 11: In a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday attached movable and immovable property worth over ₹2 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler and his family members in Udhampur district, officials said.

The property, owned by Rafaqat and his family at Devika village, was attached under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, following an investigation that established the assets were acquired through proceeds of illegal drug trade.

According to a police spokesperson, the attached properties include three residential houses, two shops, two cars, and two motorcycles. “The assets were identified as illegally acquired during the course of investigation carried out by police against the accused notorious drug smuggler,” the spokesperson said.

The action comes as part of the police department’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and drug trafficking across Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to taking stern action against all those involved in the drug menace,” the spokesperson added, assuring that efforts to trace and dismantle drug networks would continue in full swing.

Officials said the attachment of properties sends a strong message to those involved in or supporting the illicit trade, highlighting that illegal wealth generated through narcotics will not be spared and will be confiscated under the law.

The Udhampur police have intensified surveillance and investigations in multiple cases related to drug trafficking, with several arrests and property seizures reported in recent months as part of the region’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive.
