Satish Sharma Reviews JaKeGA’s Functioning, Stresses Expedited e-Services Rollout

JAMMU, Jan 17: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, Science and Technology, and ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, today conducted a comprehensive review of the Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA), which spearheads the design and implementation of e-governance initiatives in the region.

The review meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of JaKeGA, Director Finance, and technical staff.

The CEO provided a detailed presentation on JaKeGA’s physical and financial achievements and outlined future projects. He highlighted that JaKeGA serves as the nodal agency for implementing IT, ITES, and e-governance projects, aiming to design, deliver, and manage these initiatives with administrative, financial, legal, and technical support.

Upcoming projects discussed included Swan 2.0, automation of hospitals, LAN setups for Civil Secretariat and Assembly complexes in Jammu and Srinagar, digital signage solutions, and unified portal dashboards.

Commending JaKeGA’s role in driving an IT revolution across J&K, the Minister lauded its digitization efforts, the creation of a statewide area network, and the establishment of digital village sites.

Satish Sharma urged the agency to prepare for an accelerated IT transformation, emphasizing the timely establishment of e-services centers through suitable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models. “Ensuring the public receives essential information and e-services at their doorsteps is a priority,” he stated, stressing the need for swift action to enhance digital accessibility and improve governance delivery systems.
