Six Arrested for Brandishing Weapons While Dancing on Road in Jammu’s Kanachak, Video Goes Viral

Jammu, July 19: Jammu Police have arrested six individuals after a disturbing video went viral showing them brandishing sharp-edged weapons and lathis while dancing on the Ring Road in the Kanachak area.

The video, widely circulated on social media platforms, sparked outrage and concern over public safety, prompting swift police action. Acting on the viral footage, Kanachak Police registered an FIR No. 104/2025 under Sections 191(2), 191(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act for unlawful possession of weapons and disturbing public order.

Multiple raids were conducted at different locations across the region, leading to the arrest of six accused. Police also recovered two sharp-edged weapons, several lathis, and seized a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK21H 2517 believed to have been used during the incident.

Efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals seen in the video who are currently absconding.

A senior police official warned that such acts of public disorder and intimidation will not be tolerated. “We will not allow criminal bravado to thrive on our streets or on social media. Law will take its course,” the official said.

The arrests come amid increasing scrutiny over the misuse of social media to flaunt criminal behaviour and the rise in weapon-display incidents in public gatherings.
