333 FIRs Registered in Rural Zone of Jammu District During 2024

Jammu, Dec 31: In a decisive crackdown against bovine smuggling, Jammu Police has made remarkable strides under Operation Kamdhenu in 2024. With an unwavering commitment to safeguarding public sentiments and enforcing animal protection laws, the Rural Zone of Jammu District has delivered impressive results:

  • 333 FIRs registered against bovine smugglers.
  • 3,014 bovines rescued from illegal transportation.
  • 309 vehicles seized for their role in smuggling.
  • 352 accused arrested for engaging in unlawful activities.
  • 08 PSA cases imposed on habitual offenders.
  • ₹8,32,752/- in Cost & Care charges recovered through court orders.

In addition to these actions, Jammu Police has initiated stringent measures, including the opening of history sheets for notorious offenders, cancellation of Registration Certificates and Route Permits of repeat-offending vehicles, and maintaining a comprehensive database of smugglers to enhance enforcement capabilities.

The broader achievements across District Jammu under Operation Kamdhenu include:

  • 374 FIRs filed.
  • 3,252 animals rescued.
  • 349 vehicles seized.
  • 407 accused arrested.

SP Rural Jammu, Sh. Brijesh Sharma, JKPS, emphasized, “Under the guidance of SSP Jammu, Sh. Joginder Singh, JKPS, we are determined to protect public sentiments and uphold animal rights. Operation Kamdhenu is a testament to our resolve in dismantling the bovine smuggling network and ensuring the region is free of this menace.”
