Srinagar Police Attach Property of Notorious Drug Peddler Under Narco Act

Srinagar, Jan 2: In a continued effort to combat the drug menace and dismantle illegal narcotic networks, Srinagar Police have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

On Thursday, the police confirmed the legal action, which was initiated following the registration of FIR No. 134/2024 against Mohammad Irfan Sheikh, a resident of Pamposh Colony Palpora, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Sheikh had amassed significant assets, including a house and land, through the proceeds of his illegal drug trade. “A large quantity of narcotic drugs had been seized, and the accused had acquired substantial property using the profits from his criminal activities,” police stated. As per the legal procedures, his property, valued in lakhs, has now been attached.

Srinagar Police emphasized that their ongoing legal actions are aimed at sending a strong message to individuals involved in drug-related crimes. “The long arm of the law will eventually catch up with them,” police warned. “Not only will offenders face justice for their crimes, but their unlawfully acquired assets will also be seized in accordance with the law.”

Police have once again appealed to the public to assist in the fight against drug trafficking by sharing any relevant information.
