Terrorist Associate Apprehended with Huge Cache of Arms in Kupwara; Major Success for Security Forces


Kupwara, July 29: In a significant blow to anti-national elements, security forces today apprehended a terrorist associate during a meticulously planned joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Marsary village, Chowkibal area of Kralpora, Kupwara district.

The operation was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist associate in the region. It was jointly carried out by 05 PARA, 160 Territorial Army, 98 Bn CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) Kralpora, and Police Station Kralpora.

During the operation, one individual—Wali Mohammad Mir, son of Mohammad Sadiq Mir, resident of Marsary—was apprehended. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession, including:

  • 01 AK-56 rifle
  • 03 AK-56 magazines
  • 1150 rounds of AK-56 ammunition
  • 17 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was working as an associate of proscribed terrorist outfits and was actively involved in facilitating the movement of arms and ammunition to support terrorists operating in the region.

An FIR (No. 53/2025) has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kralpora. Further investigation is in progress to trace the broader network and possible links to cross-border terror handlers.
