Three Lashkar-e-Taiba Associates Arrested in Kulgam, Arms Cache Recovered

Srinagar, Jan 9: Security forces arrested three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror associates in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, thwarting plans for major terrorist activities, police said on Thursday.

A joint operation by the police, army, and CRPF led to the arrest of the trio during an investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Qaimoh police station.

The arrested individuals, identified as Ubaid Khursheed Khanday, Maqsood Ahmad Bhat, and Umer Bashir, are residents of Thokerpora in Kulgam, a police spokesperson confirmed.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK-series rifles, eight AK magazines, 217 rounds of AK ammunition, five hand grenades, and two magazine pouches.

“These terror associates were planning to carry out major terrorist activities in the Kulgam district,” the spokesperson stated, emphasizing the success of the operation in averting potential threats to the region’s peace and stability.

The security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance in the region to counteract terror activities and safeguard civilians.
