Two Terrorists Killed as Indian Army Foils Major Infiltration Attempt in Poonch’s Digwar Sector

Poonch, July 30: In a sharp blow to cross-border terrorism, the Indian Army on Tuesday foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Digwar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, eliminating two heavily armed terrorists. The operation, codenamed Operation Shivshakti, remains ongoing.

According to Army sources, the alert troops spotted suspicious movement in the forward areas during the early hours and immediately launched a precision counter-infiltration operation. The terrorists, attempting to breach the LoC under the cover of darkness, were gunned down before they could advance further into Indian territory.

Taking to social media platform X, the Indian Army confirmed the development:
“In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered.”

Officials said the operation was based on timely and synergistic intelligence inputs from Army intelligence units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, allowing security forces to respond with lethal accuracy.

The recovery of three weapons from the slain terrorists points to a well-planned infiltration attempt, possibly part of a larger grid pushed from across the border to disrupt peace ahead of the coming weeks.

Security forces have launched an extensive area sanitisation and search operation, with troops maintaining a tight cordon along the infiltration route.

Operation Shivshakti underscores the high operational alertness of the Indian Army and the continuing threat posed by terror networks operating from across the LoC.
