Amritsar Rural Police Dismantle Pakistan-Backed Arms Smuggling Network, Seize Four Pistols

In a significant operation, the Amritsar Rural Police have successfully dismantled a Pakistan-based arms smuggling network, apprehending one individual and recovering four sophisticated firearms.

Arrest and Recovery

The arrested individual, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Kaka, hails from Havellian village in Tarn Taran and currently resides in Saidpur village, Amritsar Rural. During the operation, police recovered three advanced pistols—two 9MM Glock pistols and one .30 bore China-made pistol—along with four cartridges. Additionally, a Honda Activa scooter used in the operation was impounded.

Modus Operandi

Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested individual had established contact with Manjot Singh alias Mannu, an absconding smuggler based in Dubai. Mannu orchestrated the smuggling operations, utilizing encrypted communication channels to coordinate with Pakistan-based smugglers. The firearms were reportedly dropped across the Indo-Pak border via drones and subsequently retrieved by operatives like Gurpreet Singh for distribution within India.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigations

An FIR has been registered under sections 25 and 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act and section 61(2) of the BNS Act at the Police Station State Special Operations Cell, Amritsar. Authorities have pledged stringent action against all individuals involved in organized crime and illegal weapon networks. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of the firearms and identify other individuals connected to this illicit arms trafficking network.

This operation underscores the commitment of the Amritsar Rural Police to combat cross-border arms smuggling and maintain public safety.
