Afghan Teen Survives 94-Minute Flight Hidden in Plane’s Wheel Well, Lands in Delhi

New Delhi, Sept 22: In a dramatic security breach, a 13-year-old boy from Kabul stunned authorities on Sunday when he emerged from the rear wheel well of a KAM Air flight at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The boy survived the perilous 94-minute journey from Afghanistan, landing in stable condition despite the life-threatening circumstances.

The incident unfolded after flight RQ4401, an Airbus A340 from Kabul, touched down at Terminal 3 at 10:20 am. A ground handler at the T3 taxiway spotted the teenager, dressed in a kurta-pyjama, wandering in the restricted apron area after passengers had disembarked. The Central Industrial Security Force quickly took him into custody and later handed him over to airport police.

Sources revealed the boy had tailgated passengers at Hamid Karzai International Airport before slipping into the aircraft’s wheel well. His intention, according to his own admission, was to reach Iran — but he mistakenly boarded the Kabul-Delhi flight instead.

Security experts have flagged the incident as a serious lapse in Kabul’s airport screening system. “If a child could breach security and hide in the wheel bay, it raises grave concerns about the checks in place,” a source noted.

While Indian law exempts minors from prosecution, the teenager was questioned by security agencies before being sent back to Kabul, Afghanistan.
