Bhojpuri Actor Arun Singh ‘Bhojpuriya Kaka’ Joins Jan Suraaj, Pledges to Work for Bihar Development

Arrah, Oct 6: Arun Singh, popularly known as Bhojpuriya Kaka, officially joined the political party Jan Suraaj on Monday, committing to work for the development of Bihar and his native Bhojpur district. The announcement was made at a press conference in Arrah, where Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor formally enrolled Singh as a party member.

A resident of Tetaria village in Arrah Sadar block, Singh has spent the past 25 years in Mumbai’s Bhojpuri film industry. Speaking at the event, he said his political journey was inspired by the struggles faced by Biharis outside the state, including discrimination in employment opportunities.

Singh also highlighted the lack of infrastructure for the film industry in Bihar, pointing out that the absence of a local shooting range forces filmmakers to work elsewhere. “Even after establishing my career in Mumbai, I feel a deep responsibility to contribute to Bihar’s growth,” he said.

Rejecting ambitions for electoral office, Singh clarified that his focus would be on development initiatives under Prashant Kishor’s Bihar Badlo Abhiyan. A veteran actor who has appeared in hundreds of Bhojpuri films, he attributed the state’s persistent backwardness and unemployment to systemic challenges, describing his political engagement as a step toward meaningful change.

Singh’s entry into politics is seen as a move to leverage his popularity and public influence toward addressing infrastructural deficits and promoting regional development, particularly in education, employment, and cultural sectors in Bihar.
