JAMMU, Aug 2: More than 200 young participants joined the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ programme organised by MY Bharat Jammu under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, Jammu, on Sunday, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free and developed India.
The programme began with the rendition of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, followed by the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ pledge, through which participants resolved to stay away from substance abuse and contribute towards a healthy, empowered and progressive nation.
Principal of GCW Parade Jammu, Naveen Anand, attended the event as the chief guest. The venue echoed with slogans such as “Gen Z Against Drug Addiction” and “Ek Sankalp, Ek Bharat — Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, reflecting the enthusiasm of the youth to support the nationwide anti-drug campaign.
Addressing the gathering, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Jammu, Vivek Kumar, highlighted the crucial role of young people in combating drug abuse and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. He urged the participants to become ambassadors of a drug-free society and sensitised them about the harmful physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse.
The participants later joined the nationwide virtual programme, during which Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya called upon the country’s youth to take the lead in the fight against substance abuse and actively contribute to nation-building.
As part of the awareness campaign, a Nukkad Natak (street play) was staged to highlight the devastating impact of drug addiction and emphasise the collective responsibility of society in creating a drug-free India.
The event culminated with the virtual address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who urged the youth to play a decisive role in shaping the country’s future and stressed the importance of a healthy, responsible and empowered generation in realising the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The programme concluded with the participating youth pledging to spread the message of ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ among their families, friends and communities, reinforcing their commitment to building a drug-free and developed India.
