SRINAGAR, Apr 17: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting at PCR Kashmir to assess and finalize arrangements for upcoming events across the Valley.
The meeting focused on evaluating existing security measures and identifying areas requiring further strengthening. Discussions emphasized optimizing deployment of personnel at critical and sensitive locations to ensure a robust security framework.
During the meeting, the IGP directed officers to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and enhance area domination in their respective jurisdictions. He stressed the importance of securing vulnerable installations, including prominent tourist destinations, to ensure a safe environment for visitors. Special emphasis was also laid on strict monitoring along inter-district boundaries to prevent any suspicious movement.
Highlighting urban challenges, Birdi issued specific directions for effective traffic management in Srinagar city. Officers were instructed to implement a comprehensive traffic plan aimed at easing congestion, ensuring smooth vehicular movement, and minimizing inconvenience to the public.
The IGP also reviewed preparedness for Hajj arrangements, directing concerned अधिकारियों to ensure adequate security, facilitation, and coordination at all designated points to guarantee the safe and orderly movement of pilgrims.
In addition, district heads were instructed to maintain strict vigilance over social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation that could adversely affect public order. He further called for intensified cordon and search operations, particularly in sensitive areas and along National Highways.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to maintain high standards of preparedness, coordination, and responsiveness to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of all forthcoming events in the Kashmir Valley.
Senior officers from various security agencies, including CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CID, Traffic Police, and Army formations, attended the meeting.
