Students Protest Outside GCW Gandhi Nagar, Demand Action Over Student’s Death

Jammu, Apr 20: Tension gripped the premises of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar on Monday as students staged a protest demanding strict action against those responsible for the death of a fellow student in a recent accident.

A large number of students assembled outside the college, raising slogans and expressing anger over what they termed as negligence leading to the tragic incident. The protest disrupted normal activity in the area for some time as demonstrators sought accountability from the authorities.

The agitation follows the death of Anjali Choudhary, a fourth-semester student of GCW Gandhi Nagar, who reportedly lost her life after falling from a moving bus during a college trip a few days ago. The incident has sparked outrage among students, who alleged lapses in safety measures and supervision.

Protesters demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident and called for stringent action against those found responsible. They also urged the administration to ensure better safety arrangements for students during official trips in the future.

Police personnel were deployed outside the college to maintain law and order as the protest intensified. Security forces kept a close watch on the situation to prevent any untoward incident.

The situation remained tense for some time, with students continuing their demonstration while authorities engaged with them to pacify the crowd.
