Rajouri, July 20: A major tragedy was averted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered near Gandhi Memorial Academy in the Argi area.
According to officials, the suspected explosive was spotted near the school, prompting an immediate response from security forces. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot and launched an operation to safely neutralise the device. #JammuKashnirTourism
The BDS successfully defused the suspected IED at around 8:20 pm, preventing any potential threat to the local population. Following the operation, the area was thoroughly sanitised and secured by security personnel. No casualties or damage to property were reported.
Police have also launched an investigation into the incident and begun efforts to trace the suspects responsible for planting the explosive device in the area. Investigators are collecting evidence and examining all possible leads to establish the motive behind the act.
Officials said the swift action by the Indian Army and the Bomb Disposal Squad helped avert what could have been a major tragedy.
