Washington, Feb 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington, D.C., on Thursday (local time) for a high-stakes bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. His visit also includes engagements with key American figures, including U.S. intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Later in the day, Modi met U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz at the historic Blair House. Following this, he held discussions with Musk, who has been vocal about India’s potential in the tech and energy sectors.
Describing his meeting with the NSA as “fruitful,” Modi emphasized the deepening cooperation between India and the United States. “Defence, technology, and security remain crucial pillars of our strategic partnership,” he stated, reaffirming India’s commitment to closer ties.
The talks between Modi and Trump come at a tense geopolitical moment, with the U.S. grappling with trade disputes, Trump’s controversial Gaza peace plan, and his aggressive deportation policies. These contentious issues are expected to shape the discussions as both leaders navigate their strategic priorities.
Modi’s visit also carries diplomatic significance, as he becomes the fourth world leader to meet Trump at the White House since his second-term inauguration on January 20. Before him, Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and Jordan’s King Abdullah, signaling his administration’s focus on key global alliances.
