JAMMU, Jul 15: As part of field reviews for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, on Tuesday visited the historic Ram Temple in Purani Mandi — a key location offering food and shelter to sadhus and sadhvis travelling to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said.
During the visit, the IGP inspected the temple premises, reviewed existing security deployments, and examined access control points to strengthen safety measures in and around the complex, they added.
The Jammu police chief issued on-spot directions to enhance vigilance, especially during peak hours of pilgrim movement, while stressing the importance of maintaining both security and a welcoming environment for devotees.
He also reviewed arrangements for the langar (community kitchen), interacted with volunteers and organisers, and praised their dedicated efforts in ensuring smooth operations.
In a symbolic gesture of solidarity and service, the IGP actively participated in the langar, distributing food and sharing a meal with pilgrims to personally assess the quality, a police spokesperson said.
His interaction with devotees, the spokesman noted, created an atmosphere of warmth and reassurance, reflecting the administration’s people-centric approach during the yatra.
During the visit, the IGP was also briefed on coordinated plans covering security, traffic regulation, and continuous support for pilgrims transiting through the area.
