Jammu, July 17: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday conducted a strategic visit to forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, underscoring the critical need for inter-agency coordination, real-time intelligence sharing, and enhanced surveillance to safeguard border security.
Accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti and senior officers from the police and Army, the DGP visited the Buchohemandi area—considered a vital point along the LoC due to its strategic location and vulnerability to cross-border threats.
A police spokesperson said the Army authorities briefed the DGP on the prevailing security grid in the region, highlighting surveillance mechanisms, defensive arrangements, and coordination protocols between Army and Police forces.
“The visit also aimed at assessing the terrain, visibility advantages, and the overall layout of defensive positions in the forward area,” the spokesperson said.
During his field inspection, DGP Prabhat reiterated the importance of seamless synergy between security agencies, real-time flow of actionable intelligence, and adoption of technology-driven surveillance methods—particularly in areas like Akhnoor, which have witnessed infiltration attempts and smuggling activities in the past.
He also praised the joint efforts of the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF in maintaining a strong security posture in border zones and emphasized sustained operational preparedness in light of evolving threats.
The high-level visit, marked by the presence of top leadership from multiple security forces, reflects the government’s strategic priority to ensure peace, stability, and proactive defence along the Line of Control.
