Amritsar, July 18 — In a major anti-narcotics breakthrough, alert troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) neutralized six Pakistani drones and recovered over 2.34 kilograms of suspected heroin in a series of coordinated operations along the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar last night.
According to officials, the operations unfolded in multiple phases across the border belt, showcasing the BSF’s heightened vigilance and the effectiveness of advanced counter-drone technology deployed along the international boundary.
First Incident – Village Pulmoran:
During the night hours of July 17, BSF troops detected multiple drone intrusions from the Pakistan side near Pulmoran village. Prompt activation of technical countermeasures led to the successful neutralization of four DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones. During the subsequent search, three packets of suspected heroin, weighing 1.744 kilograms, were recovered from the attached payloads.
Second Incident – Village Roranwala Khurd:
In a similar operation later that night, another DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was intercepted and forced to crash due to electronic interference. One packet of heroin, weighing 596 grams, was seized following the recovery operation.
Third Incident – Village Dhanoe Kalan:
In the early morning hours of July 18, BSF intercepted and shot down yet another Pakistani drone near Dhanoe Kalan using its counter-drone system.
Total Seizure:
Across all three incidents, the BSF recovered six DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones and approximately 2.34 kilograms of heroin in what is being hailed as a significant setback to Pakistan-backed narco-terror operations.
“The alertness of our jawans combined with the impeccable performance of technical countermeasures has dealt a serious blow to the cross-border narcotics syndicate,” a BSF spokesperson said. “These operations underscore the increasing attempts by Pakistan-based elements to use drones for drug trafficking and the BSF’s unwavering commitment to thwart such threats.”
This latest string of drone neutralizations highlights both the persistent nature of cross-border smuggling attempts and India’s growing technological edge in countering such threats.
