Vaishno Devi Yatra: Himkoti Track Closed Amid Bad Weather, Old Route Open for Pilgrims

Katra, Aug 25: In view of inclement weather conditions along the Adhkuwari–Bhawan sector, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board on Sunday night temporarily closed the Himkoti track for the movement of pilgrims.

Officials said the Adhkuwari–Sanjhichhat route (the old track) will, however, remain open to ensure smooth pilgrimage to the holy shrine.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, especially after a recent tragedy near Banganga where a landslide killed one devotee and left several others injured. With continuous rains lashing parts of the Jammu region, shrine authorities and security personnel are keeping a close watch on vulnerable stretches of the track to avoid any untoward incident.

Pilgrims have been urged to follow weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains, and strictly adhere to instructions issued by shrine authorities and security staff to ensure a safe yatra.
