Leh, Sep 29: Curfew remained in force for the sixth consecutive day in violence-hit Leh on Monday as authorities maintained heightened security across the town.
Officials said the situation was largely peaceful in the curfew-bound areas with no untoward incident reported. “Police and paramilitary forces are deployed in strength in sensitive areas and are maintaining strict vigil to ensure law and order,” an official spokesperson said.
Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan to review the overall security situation. The review comes ahead of the last rites of ex-serviceman Tsewang Tharchin of Skurbuchan and 21-year-old Rinchen Dadul of Hanu, scheduled later in the day.
