Northern Railway to Resume Eight Long-Distance Trains from Jammu from October 2

Jammu, Sep 29: The Northern Railway has announced that eight long-distance trains from Jammu station will resume operations starting October 2, following extensive repair work on tracks damaged by heavy rains and floods in August.

The floods had severely affected the Jammu–Pathankot and Jammu–Katra sections, damaging tracks and bridges and forcing the suspension of over 50 trains. Hundreds of passengers were left stranded at Jammu railway station during that period.

Officials said the decision to restore the trains comes after thorough inspections and technical work to ensure safety and smooth operations. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “Train services are being gradually normalised as work on tracks and bridges is completed. Passengers are advised to check train schedules on the Northern Railway website or helpline before travelling.”

The reinstated services will start with the Jammu Tawi–Kanpur train from October 2. The Jammu Tawi–Barauni and Jammu Tawi–Guwahati trains will resume on October 3, followed by Jammu Tawi–Gorakhpur on October 4 and Jammu Tawi–Yoga Nagari Rishikesh on October 5. The Jammu Tawi–Bhagalpur train will be back on October 7, while the Jammu–Sealdah and another Jammu–Guwahati train will resume on October 8.

Earlier phases of restoration saw local trains on Katra–Jammu, Katra–Budgam, Katra–Banihal, and Katra–Sangaldan routes back in service, along with freight trains resuming in September.

The Northern Railway said it remains committed to ensuring safe and reliable services for passengers as rail operations gradually return to normal.
