Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Projects Worth ₹36.5 Crore in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Sept 30: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for over a dozen development projects worth ₹36.50 crore during an extensive tour of Ganderbal district, reaffirming his government’s focus on sports, power and road infrastructure.

At Beehama, Abdullah inaugurated six major sports facilities, including the upgradation of Beehama Stadium, Madr-e-Meherban Stadium, and playfields at Gund Rehman, Manigam, Wakura and Batwina. He also unveiled new sports equipment and witnessed Judo, Thang-Ta and Yoga demonstrations by local youth.

In Saloora, the Chief Minister dedicated a 33/11 KV, 1×6 MVA receiving station to the public, strengthening the district’s power supply. At the Government College of Physical Education in Gadoora, he opened a pre-fabricated indoor badminton hall and participated in a friendly match. The visit also saw the inauguration of a 400-metre synthetic athletic track and a synthetic football turf at the college, where Abdullah flagged off a 100-metre girls’ sprint before joining in a race himself, drawing applause from the crowd.

Laying emphasis on road connectivity, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for four key projects in the district. These include upgradation of Shajinga Link Road and Khatijinag Road, construction and improvement of Dar Mohallah–Watalbagh–Dangerpora Road, Pati Waskura–Kharbagh Road, and Tehsil Bagh–Lar Bypass–Yanihama–Dangerpora Road.

Abdullah said the projects would give a significant push to sports development, power distribution and road connectivity in Ganderbal, directly benefiting the local population.
