Jammu, Oct 2: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has filed a chargesheet against a woman and her two accomplices in connection with a multi-crore government job scam that allegedly defrauded unemployed youths of their hard-earned money.
According to officials, the accused, a resident of Ramgarh in Samba district, along with Dalip Singh and Subhash Chander, orchestrated a sophisticated scheme to cheat job-seekers by promising lucrative government appointments in exchange for large sums of money. The trio reportedly issued fake appointment orders and forged official documents to mislead victims and extract crores of rupees.
The chargesheet was presented before the Railway Magistrate Court in Jammu after investigators uncovered sufficient evidence of fraud, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. The case was first registered in 2024 following a complaint by Bubal Kumar from Kot Bhalwal, who alleged that he was defrauded of ₹50 lakh for securing government jobs for his two sons.
In a separate complaint, nine additional victims accused the same group of defrauding them of ₹1.27 crore through a similar job scam. A distinct case has been registered, and investigations into this matter are ongoing.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed the filing of the chargesheet and said further investigation is underway to ensure judicial proceedings lead to accountability and recovery of the defrauded amounts.
The Crime Branch has urged the public to remain vigilant and verify any claims regarding government jobs through official channels, warning that such scams exploit the aspirations of unemployed youths.
