LG Sinha Thanks PM Modi, Union Agriculture Minister for Advance Release of PM-KISAN 21st Instalment to Flood-Hit J&K Farmers

Srinagar, Oct 7: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for the advance release of the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme to benefit farmers of Jammu and Kashmir affected by the recent devastating floods.

According to the UT administration, approximately ₹171 crore will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of nearly 8.55 lakh eligible farmers across J&K. The financial support, released ahead of schedule, is expected to provide crucial relief to farming families struggling to recover from the unprecedented calamity.

In a post on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor wrote:
“I am extremely grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @Narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji for advance release of the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN Scheme for the farmers of J&K UT. Approx. ₹171 crore will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 lakh eligible farmers of J&K today. This much-needed financial assistance will help our farmers to sustain their livelihoods and speed up recovery to resume agricultural activities.”

The LG further underlined the importance of the farming community, calling them the backbone of J&K’s economy and a strong foundation for growth in other sectors. “The Government of India is committed to provide all possible assistance to mitigate the effects of the worst floods in several decades and ensure stability in the lives of the affected population,” he added.

The relief is being seen as a significant step towards supporting agricultural recovery in the flood-affected Union Territory, where farmlands and standing crops have been severely damaged.
