Amritsar, Oct 18: In a major blow to cross-border smuggling networks, the Border Security Force (BSF) troops thwarted multiple attempts to smuggle narcotics and weapons across the India-Pakistan border in Punjab, seizing heroin, ICE drugs, and a pistol in separate operations.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, BSF personnel, in coordination with Punjab Police, recovered 602 grams of heroinfrom agricultural fields near Tindiwala village in Ferozepur district.
In a parallel operation near Bhahini Rajputana village in Amritsar, alert troops seized 3.675 kg of ICE drug, believed to have been dropped by a drone from across the border — a method increasingly used by Pakistani smugglers to evade ground surveillance.
During a subsequent search near Roranwala Khurd, a pistol wrapped in yellow tape was recovered, indicating yet another attempt to push arms into Indian territory.
A BSF spokesperson said the back-to-back recoveries reflect the force’s unwavering vigilance and operational synergy with Punjab Police. “The BSF remains committed to securing India’s borders and dismantling every conduit of cross-border crime,” the spokesperson added.
The seizures come amid growing concerns over the use of drones and hybrid networks by cross-border syndicates to smuggle drugs and weapons into Punjab — a challenge the BSF continues to counter with intensified night surveillance and intelligence-based operations.
