Doda, Jan 2: Three individuals were found dead under suspicious circumstances in a guest house in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, with initial investigations suggesting asphyxiation as the likely cause of death, police said.
According to officials, a man alerted the police late Wednesday night, stating that his brother, who had traveled to Bhaderwah, was not responding to calls. Police tracked the brother’s mobile phone and dispatched a team to locate him. The team traced the vehicle of the complainant’s brother and discovered that a room had been booked for them at the Royal Inn guest house in Bhaderwah.
Upon arriving at the guest house, police officers knocked repeatedly on the door of the room but received no response. They subsequently forced entry and found three individuals unconscious. Emergency medical teams and forensic experts were called to the scene, where the doctors confirmed the deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Kumar, Ashutosh, and Sunny Choudhary, all residents of Jammu. While the exact cause of death remains under investigation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, stated that initial findings suggest asphyxiation. A charcoal heater was found inside the room, leading authorities to believe it may have contributed to the deaths. However, forensic reports are awaited, and further investigations are ongoing to determine the cause with certainty.
