NIA Attaches Property in Kashmir Under UAPA in Terror Funding Probe

Srinagar, Jan 3:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a significant step in its crackdown on terror financing by attaching a property in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The action, carried out on Friday, is part of an ongoing investigation into terror funding and related activities, officials said.

The attached property, a 19-marla land parcel, is located in the Halpora area of Kokernag and belongs to Mohammad Akbar Dar, a resident of the same area. The NIA stated that the attachment was conducted under UAPA provisions to disrupt financial networks that allegedly support terrorism and other unlawful activities in the Union Territory.

“This action is part of our broader efforts to dismantle the economic structures that fund and facilitate terrorism,” the agency said in a statement, reaffirming its commitment to curbing terror-related activities in the region.

The development underscores the agency’s intensified focus on targeting the financial underpinnings of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
