New Delhi, Jan 3, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against four members of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization for the abduction and brutal murder of Dinesh Pusu Gawade in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district.
The accused—Doba Wadde, Ravi Pallo, Sattu Mahaka, and Komati Mahaka—are alleged to have kidnapped and killed Gawade in November 2023 on suspicion of being a police informer and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
According to the chargesheet, filed before the NIA Special Court in Mumbai (Case RC-03/2024/NIA/MUM), the crime was part of a larger conspiracy by CPI (Maoist) to instill fear among local villagers and deter them from providing information about Naxal activities to security forces. The murder was also meant to demonstrate the group’s dominance in the region.
The case, initially registered at Dhodraj Police Station in Gadchiroli, was transferred to the NIA in October 2024. The local police had earlier arrested the accused and recovered a Bharmar gun, explosives, and other incriminating materials during the investigation.
The accused, all residents of Gadchiroli, have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), and 120B (criminal conspiracy); the Arms Act; and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The NIA emphasized that further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the conspiracy and other individuals involved in the crime.
