Srinagar, Jan 5: In light of challenging road conditions and an adverse weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department of Jammu and Kashmir, Budgam Police has released an advisory for the general public and tourists planning to visit the Doodhpathri and Yousmarg tourist resorts.
The advisory emphasizes caution and urges visitors to adhere strictly to safety instructions while traveling to these destinations.
As per the directive, only 4×4 vehicles or those equipped with anti-skid chains will be permitted to travel from the main town of Khansahib towards Doodhpathri.
To ensure safety on icy roads, the police have advised travelers to:
- Verify the optimal condition of their vehicles, with special attention to brakes, lights, and defrosters.
- Drive slowly and steadily, avoid using cruise control, and remain calm while steering carefully in case of skidding.
- Carry essential supplies such as warm clothing, food, blankets, a flashlight, and a phone charger.
- Share travel plans with trusted contacts and enable location sharing on their devices.
Drivers are also urged to avoid blocking roads, refrain from parking along roadsides, and abstain from overtaking. Most importantly, travelers are advised to avoid driving during snowstorms at all costs.
