Srinagar, Jan 6: CPI(M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, on Monday expressed grave concern over the alarming rise in asphyxiation cases in Kashmir, a recurring and tragic issue during winters. He urged the government to provide carbon monoxide sensors to households at subsidized rates to prevent further loss of life.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Tarigami noted that asphyxiation incidents have already claimed seven lives in the region this winter, with one victim currently battling for life.
“The government must urgently formulate a policy to distribute carbon monoxide sensors at subsidized rates through local bodies. Such a measure would be a crucial step in protecting lives and ensuring safety during the harsh winter months,” Tarigami stated.
The CPI(M) leader underscored the importance of proactive action, stressing that awareness and preventive tools like sensors can significantly reduce the risk of such tragic incidents.
