JAMMU, Jun 14: The Indian Army effectively retaliated after Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakot sector of Poonch district on Saturday, official sources said.
According to sources, the ceasefire violation began when the Pakistan Army opened fire on an Indian forward post in the Balakot sector. Pakistani troops reportedly fired around 10 to 15 rounds without any provocation from the Indian side.
The Indian Army responded promptly and strongly, targeting the Pakistani posts from where the firing originated. The retaliatory action forced the firing to stop, officials said.
There were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side.
Sources said the situation along the LoC remains under control, but troops have been asked to maintain a high level of alertness. Senior Army officials are closely monitoring the developments and keeping a watch on the situation in the sector.
The latest incident comes amid heightened vigilance along the Line of Control, with security forces maintaining a strong presence to counter any attempt at ceasefire violations or cross-border misadventures.
Further details are awaited.
