Seven-Day Skill Development Programme Concludes Successfully at Central University of Jammu

Jammu, 15 January 2025: The seven-day Skill Development Programme on “Conservation, Cultivation, and Entrepreneurship Development in Medicinal Plants” concluded today at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ). This collaborative event was organized by the Regional Cum Facilitation Centre NR II, National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, along with the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K), and the Department of Botany, CUJ.

Under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the programme aimed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills on the sustainable conservation, cultivation, and entrepreneurial development of medicinal plants. The week-long programme featured 22 insightful lectures by distinguished experts from premier institutions, offering participants valuable insights into the field.

Dr. Sheikh Bilal Ahmad, Regional Director of the Regional Cum Facilitation Centre NR II, National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Sanjeev Jain and the Department of Botany, CUJ, for their support and leadership in organizing the programme. He commended the enthusiasm and active participation of the attendees, noting their commitment to learning and their passion for the field.

Dr. Yogesh Kumar, Head of the Department of Botany, CUJ, extended his thanks to Dr. Sheikh Bilal Ahmad and all collaborators for their significant contributions. He acknowledged the hard work of the organizing team and expressed optimism for future collaborations to further advance the university’s contributions to medicinal plant conservation and entrepreneurship.

Prof. B.S. Bhau, Convener of the programme, thanked all the speakers and organizing members for their dedication and efforts, which were instrumental in the success of the event.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dean of the School of Business Studies, CUJ, who praised the collective efforts of the organizers and participants and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary approaches to the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants.

Dr. Vikas Srivastava, Organizing Secretary of the programme, delivered a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and contributions of all stakeholders involved.

The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the participants’ commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in the medicinal plant sector. This initiative marked a significant step towards promoting research, sustainability, and entrepreneurship in the field of medicinal plants.
